Mariaelena Welch began her career 20 years ago as a Mechanical Engineer and grew to holding executive roles in sales, operations, and organizational development in both entrepreneurial and large corporate settings. As a Management Consultant and ICF certified Personal Development and Organizational Leadership Coach, she supports business leaders with the process of setting goals, navigating change, and seeking balance, joy, and fulfillment in their lives.
In addition to her consulting expertise in leadership, product development, project management, sales, and operations, she holds advanced certifications in Emotional Intelligence. Therefore, she is especially passionate about helping people “lean in” to their emotions, and the emotions of others, as a strategic resource in conjunction with cognitive thinking and strategic planning to be a more successful leader, change-agent, and effective decision maker.
Mariaelena has been volunteering with WEV for several years, serving on our Board of Directors and more recently as an Outside Consultant and entrepreneurial coach for our Thrive in Five® program.
What prompted you to start volunteering with WEV?
In my heart and for as long as I can remember, I’ve always been a teacher. I have a passion and real strength for learning complex things, breaking it down into easy to digest bite-size chunks, and helping others learn how to apply these lessons in their world. In my 25+ year career, I’ve had many diverse leadership roles in sales, project management, product development, operations, and product, business, and organizational development. This breadth and depth of knowledge is especially helpful to WEV clients who are usually juggling it all and more. There is nothing more satisfying than witnessing the transformation of a client who feels confused, alone, overwhelmed, or discouraged into one that has gained new clarity and peace through the sharing of knowledge.
What about WEV’s mission compels you continue giving your time?
Too many women lack the confidence in themselves to start their own businesses. They believe they don’t “know enough” and they lack the role models to inspire and demystify entrepreneurship. Through its programs and services, WEV helps women to see, build, and implement an entrepreneurial future for themselves. This future builds stronger women, stronger families, and a stronger, more equitable and just world.
