Telemundo 52 LA: WEV’s Emprendedores Program

Even if you don’t speak Spanish, you can still feel the pride, joy and determination of these Ventura County participants who graduated from our Emprendedores program last night. Program graduates Catalina Almazan and Enrique Suarez shared their personal stories about their business goals and aspirations.

WEV, in partnership with Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP), developed Emprendedores – a program that supports individuals who face significant barriers to employment such as low English proficiency by providing them with entrepreneurial training, technical assistance, and micro-grants to launch or grow their own businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.

Participants who complete the free, 6-week Spanish business course are eligible to apply for grant funds of up to $5,000 for their small business needs.
