Become a Bilingual Instructor for WEV

WEV offers a range of entrepreneurship programs in Spanish, including Small Business Fundamentals, Finance, and Digital Marketing classes. We are always looking to identify bilingual individuals who are passionate about teaching small business skills to add to our part-time Entrepreneurship Instructor pool.

WEV’s classes are taught in a variety of in-person, hybrid and online formats, depending on the class type. All Instructor positions are part-time with an average of 25 to 75 hours per course. Each course is taught two to three times a year, with class sizes ranging from 12 to 25 individuals.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct Services:

  • Instructs training course using the WEV-provided content.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on client work via WEV’s Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Available to assist course participants by email, phone or other method, such as set office hours.
  • Refer clients to other support services in the community for additional help, as needed.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Plans and facilitates classroom activities to supplement WEV-provided material.
  • Evaluates curriculum content and effectiveness and provides feedback to WEV.

Administrative:

  • Submits attendance to WEV staff the day after each class.
  • Attends weekly check-ins with WEV staff (meeting and/or email, as required).
  • Recommends guest speakers/consultants to staff when appropriate.
  • Completes and submits biweekly timesheet.

 

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

  • Bilingual, fluent in written and spoken Spanish, and experience working with LatinX bicultural communities.
  • Demonstrated facilitation and teaching skills (including via Zoom).
  • General business skills (specialties in marketing, sales, finance, operations, technology, manufacturing, or other areas); expertise across a range of industries is a plus.
  • Highly-motivated, energetic, confident, and decisive.
  • Experience starting, managing and growing a small business.
  • Aligned with WEV’s mission and dedicated to WEV’s clients.
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication and client relations skills, including active listening, patience, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Gains the confidence and trust of others by acting from a foundation of honesty, integrity, and authenticity; builds strong client relationships; acts as a cheerleader whilst also holding clients accountable.
  • Proven high level of resilience and steadiness, ability to remain calm and provide reassurance in high pressure and sometimes emotional situations.
  • Continues to develop professionally; is a lifelong learner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders of varying social and cultural backgrounds at all levels.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work in a highly organized manner both individually and collaboratively, proficient at scheduling and paperwork.
  • Personal, reliable auto transportation and current auto insurance.

 

Education:

Minimum: B.A. or M.A. in business, education, finance, marketing or related field.

Small business experience may substitute for degree.

Compensation:

$45 to $55/hr. DOE

Note: due to State legislation compliance, Entrepreneurship Instructors are part-time employees of WEV, not independent contractors; Santa Barbara/Ventura County residents are strongly preferred.
