WEV celebrates its graduates
BY JEREMY THOMAS
After 14 weeks of classes, Women’s Economic Ventures graduated 91 participants in its Self-Employment Training Course from Santa Barbara and Ventura counties on May 18. Of those graduates, 14 came from the group’s Spanish and English SET courses in Santa Maria.
The graduates will go on to fulfill their dreams of owning their own businesses, including a family farm and a safety and environmental consulting firm that assists employers with compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
“Women’s Economic Ventures is committed to helping entrepreneurs achieve their dreams whether the economy is in a state of downturn or on the upswing,” Angel Cottrell, WEV’s client services director, said in a press release.
Currently more than 1,000 businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties are owned and operated by graduates of the SET program or recipients of small business loans through WEV.
