EXPERT’S CORNER

The following tip comes from Llewellyn Somers, WEV’s very own Program Coordinator. ou can reach Llewellyn at lsomers@wevonline.org.

Justbreathe

“Feeling Stressed? Breathe! Being a business owner – heck, just being a human – is stressful stuff. And the minute we get stressed, we forget to breathe.

It’s no news flash that breathing exercises can calm our nerves, restore clear thinking and improve our health, but who has time to assume the lotus position every time our heart rate spikes?

Here’s a simple breathing method you can do anywhere, any time:

1) Take in a loooong, deeeeep breath

2) Recite to yourself the word that embodies what you need at that moment: “calm”, “patience”, “power.”

3) As you breath out slowly and fully, say to yourself the word that embodies your stress: “frustration”, “anger”, “chaos.”

All together now: Breathe in “PEACE’, breathe out “CHAOS.” Feeling better? There’s no wrong way to do it, and the longer you can do it in one sitting, the better you’ll feel.”

What wisdom could you share with the WEV community? Establish yourself as an expert in your field by writing a quick tip to news@wevonline.org. Spread the wealth of knowledge!
