Expert’s Corner

The following three tips come from David Harris, one of our guest presenters, SET graduate, and owner of The Wiser Organizer. His tips will help you practice and refine how you deliver information about yourself and your business.

elevator speech

1) Hone 2-3 elevator speeches (or more!).Even if you have to partially read from them at first, being prepared can really help you relax.

2) Say your name & business at the beginning AND end to help people remember you.

3) Time your elevator speeches beforehand so they stay a couple of seconds under whatever time limit your group sets. (I’ve seen great speeches get ruined at the end with unintended laughter because the speaker got gonged for going over.)

4) It’s best to focus on the benefits rather than the features of our businesses.

(And if you can make others laugh, so much the better! Goodness knows we all need it, and I believe we get to know each other better that way.)

Thanks for your insight, David!
