WEV’s new office in Ventura County will be located in the heart of Downtown Ventura, just steps away from City Hall!

The move from the Oxnard office to the Ventura office will begin November 20th. As of December 1st, WEV’s only office in Ventura County will be located at
374 Poli Street, Suite 207
Ventura, CA 93001

(Our Oxnard office will permanently close on November 30).

We look forward to serving all of Ventura County from our new-and-improved office!

WEV Receives Grants from 2 New Funders

In October WEV received grants from two new funders, The California Consumer Protection Foundation (CCPF) and The Medtronic Foundation.

The CCPF provides grants to support a wide range of activities affecting consumers in many diverse fields such as health care, auto sales, consumer fraud, privacy, banking, finance, insurance, energy and telecommunications. WEV received a $10,000 grant from the Foundation to help support our ongoing website development project.

The Medtronic Foundation’s mission is to improve the health of people and communities through focus, innovation and leadership. WEV received a $5,000 grant from the Foundation in support of the Self Employment Training Program. A special thank you to Veronica Lambert with Medtronic Neurosurgery in Goleta who recommended WEV for the award.

WEV Artist: Jerry  Ferguson

Jerry Ferguson

Jerry Ferguson Wall Art

Artist Statement:
My name is Jerry Ferguson and I do Art Quilting.  Art Quilts grew out of the tradition of using scraps of fabric, traditional cloth or traditional designs to make quilts for use or for decoration.  The Art Quilt builds on this tradition and uses commercial and hand dyed fabric, paint, beads, thread painting  and other kinds of materials and techniques in order to embellish the fabric.  Art Quilts tend to be used as wall hangings rather than as bed covers and usually do not involve traditional designs but rather strive to develop a story, a picture or just explore materials and design elements.

I am not a ‘young artist’ but rather spent most of my life as a mother and teacher.  In my mid teaching career, I went back to school and earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture which helped meet my need for artistic expression.  Now as a retired person with grown children, I am able to pursue my passion in art.  I was a recipitnt of SET financial aid and am still involved with my Master Minds group.  Art Quilting has given me the opportunity to share, through my quilt guild, in philanthropy with the community, to have a business that I love and to keep moving forward in my knowledge and ability. Most of all, it is really fun!
