SET graduate Vana Barberis is spreading nirvana in Oxnard with the launch of her new coffeehouse Nirvana Cafe. With a passion for community and quality, Vana wanted to create a local space that was a cross between your favorite coffee house, outdoor festival, boutique, and arts center. “WEV Got News” Schedule

 
Starting this month, we’ll be sending you “WEV Got News” on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. If you want to submit a story, an achievement, or an event, the submission deadlines are the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month.  

WEV is Looking For Ventura Class Space!

 
WEV is looking for facilities in Ventura for our Fall SET and BPI classes. Do you know a place that is willing to accommodate 15 people twice a week from September 10th- October 17th, or 30 people once a week from September 4th- December 11th? Facilities must have a white wall or projection screen and access to free, lit parking. Please email Leticia Sandoval at lsandoval@wevonline.org  if you have any recommendations!

We were so grateful to thank and recognize our 2013 Volunteers of the Year at our recent Empowerment is Priceless breakfast. Our Santa Barbara County Volunteer of the Year is Lisa Braithwaite, Public Speaking Coach, and our Ventura County Volunteer of the Year is Harriet Cohen of Training Solutions! Congratulations to Lisa and Harriet, and thank you to the hundreds of others that volunteer with WEV every year! 

WEV Santa Barbara Spanish Workshops

In collaboration with the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara, WEV offered a series of 3 Spanish workshops providing training on the basics of starting a business including marketing and financing. 
The next Santa Barbara workshop is on Thursday, June 6th, 6pm-8:30pm. Call WEV’s Spanish line for more information and to register: 805.456.2383. 

New WEV Job Opportunity: Business Development Specialist

Thrive in Five® is growing and we are looking for a Business Development Specialist! Launched in 2010, our Thrive in Five® program provides long-term, individualized training, consulting and coaching for entrepreneurs who need assistance with stabilizing and/or growing their companies. 
 
As a Business Development Specialist, you will work 1 on 1 with clients to analyze business processes and outcomes, review process efficiency and adequacy and recommend options for improving our clients’ business performance and profits. The Business Development Specialist also helps solve problems and discusses project progress with clients. For more information on this opportunity, click here.

If you received services or had a loan from WEV in 2011, you may get a call from us in June to participate in our annual client outcomes research study. 
 
We’ll ask you to complete a 15-20 minute telephone interview about your experiences since participating in our programs. The information we collect in these interviews is critical to helping us improve our programs and understanding our impact in the community. And to thank you for time, we’ll send you a $5 Starbucks or Amazon.com gift card!
