Valerie Velazques, a recent SET graduate, wanted to give savvy, conscious consumers a chance to make more meaningful exchanges. With her mission as momentum, she is launching “Meet Your Makers,” a sustainable design and artisan market that promotes solutions to today’s problems. You can find her and her vendors across from the Santa Barbara farmer’s market every Saturday starting in July! Read more about her story and her market here!

WEV_Jana Heredia_180x150

If you know someone who wants to start a business, then be sure to share our Orientations with them–they might need a little nudge! Every week this month, we’re offering Orientations for Fall 2013 Self-Employment Training (SET) and Business Plan Intensive (BPI).
We anticipate these business training courses will be full by the end of July!

Orientations are free, hour-long sessions to learn about the resources available to entrepreneurs, and to test your readiness to enroll in one of our programs. Click here for more information and to sign up!

Get $5 at Starbucks or Amazon.com!

If you received services or had a loan from WEV in 2011, you may get a call from us in June to participate in our annual client outcomes research study.

We’ll ask you to complete a 15-20 minute telephone interview about your experiences since participating in our programs. The information we collect in these interviews is critical to helping us improve our programs and understanding our impact in the community. And to thank you for time, we’ll send you a $5 Starbucks or Amazon.com gift card!
