WEV is looking for a new office to accommodate our growing staff and programs in Ventura County! Ideally, we’d like an office in Ventura around 700 square feet with 3 small offices and easy access to the 101 and/or 126 freeways.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

 
The Housing Authority is currently providing financial literacy and free tax preparation for the community through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).
 
VITA is a FREE tax preparation service to families and individuals who earned less than $50,000 in 2012. Find the nearest center to you and learn more here.  

The Affordable Care Act and What It Could Mean For You

 
This year small businesses will be hearing a great deal about coming changes in health care due to implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which lowers premium cost growth and increases access to quality, affordable health insurance for small businesses.
 
The SBA has a newly launched health care web page that helps individuals and small business owners understand what the Affordable Care Act means for them. For more information click here.

Nominations are now open for the third annual Spirit of Entrepreneurship Awards, the most prestigious awards for women entrepreneurs in Santa Barbara County, which is open to any woman entrepreneur in Santa Barbara County!

In the midst of Carnival season, SET graduates and husband-wife duo, Daniel “Chin” Yoshimi and  Jennifer Yannella, will be opening Brasil Arts Cafe in Santa Barbara. In the meantime, read a review from the Independent here. Congratulations, Daniel and Jennifer!

Renee Gomez, owner and operator of MK Photography, recently graduated from SET and is already a featured artist in the upcoming RAW Artist Showcase.  Purchase tickets and view Renee’s profile on re-sale tickets can be purchased through my profile page on RAW. 

 Emiliano Campobello at the Beverly Hills Hotel

Congratulations to SET graduate, Emiliano Campobello, for receiving rave reviews for his mural work in The Beverly Hills Hotel. After working six, 100-hour weeks and applying over 25,000 gold leaves, he presented his masterpiece at the hotel’s 100 year anniversary last May! Pick up the current issue of The Montecito Journal to read more about his story, and visit his website  to see more of his stunning artwork!
