If your family earned less than $50,000 in 2011, you are eligible for FREE tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. United Way of Northern Santa Barbara County and the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara each administer the VITA program in their respective areas within Santa Barbara County.

Do You Qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit?
It’s tax season and for millions of low-income taxpayers, tax refunds through the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) program provide a vital financial boost. To ensure that as many families benefit from the EITC as possible, Citi Community Development (CCD) has partnered with a number of non-profit organizations to develop a nationwide awareness campaign called Money Matters.
Available in both English and Spanish, the Money Matters publication provides clear and concise information about qualifying for the EITC and raises awareness of the IRS’s free tax preparation services through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
