WEV Opens in Kern County
WEV will celebrate the Grand Opening of its Mountain Communities Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on August 19th in Frazier Park. Working through the UC Merced Lead Center, WEV will operate as an SBDC host institution, bringing services to business owners in the Mountain Communities of Kern County. Services will include consulting, workshops and, by next Spring, our Self-Employment Training course. Fall Programs Begin Next Month
Why is small business the economic engine of the economy? Over the past 20 years, 86% of new jobs have been created by businesses with less than 20 employees. In fact, a study by the Kauffman Foundation found that over half of the 2009 Fortune 500 companies began during a recession or bear market.
If you or someone you know is thinking of starting a business, now may be the perfect time. You may be able to take advantage of weakened competition or be able to choose from a larger pool of potential employees. If not now, when?
WEV’s 14-week Self-Employment Training (SET) course teaches the A-Z of running a small business. Graduates walk away with a complete business plan and a network of support as they start/grow their business. Attendance of a free, 1-hour orientation is required to enroll – Sign up today!
WEV’s 6-week Business Plan Intensive (BPI) is a rigorous course that quickly and efficiently helps you update or create a business plan. BPI was created specifically for the business professional who’s currently in business; has owned a business; or has work experience and/or an upper-level educational background. For more information, call instructor Tea Silvestre at (805) 667-8004.
WEV has also created Thrive in Five™ for clients ready to take their existing business to the next level. Clients join the program for a minimum of 1 year to reach business goals set with WEV staff. You can count on a combination of one-on-one assessments, consulting, webinars and coaching calls to help you and your business THRIVE. Contact Tea Silvestre at (805) 667-8004 or email@example.com or Devon Johnson at (805) 965-6073 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
