WEV is excited to announce an accelerated business plan course called Business Plan Intensive (BPI), coming this fall! BPI is designed for professionals who are currently in business, have owned a business, or who have work experience and/or an educational background that will ensure her/his success in this fast-paced program. BPI clients will have the opportunity to simultaneously enter the SBLF (Small Business Loan Fund) pipeline while utilizing the course to write a business plan needed to qualify for the loan they are seeking. This program will be priced at a market rate ($1,500.00) and will not be subsidized; however, WEV is considering making educational loans from our fund to finance the cost for potential clients.
As with WEV’s traditional Self-Employment Training course, those interested must attend a free, 1-hour orientation in order to enroll. Please visit our website to sign up for an orientation today! In addition, contact Client Services Director Angel Cottrell at email@example.com for more information on this new, exciting program beginning October 3rd!
WEV Alumni – Giving Back Spotlight
WEV graduate June Snow has put her business plan into action and launched the Santa Barbara International Marathon. She has also seen the importance of giving back to charities that align with her business; one of them is Women’s Economic Ventures. Click on the image above to read more about June’s story and to donate back to WEV.
June says: “Run the Santa Barbara International Marathon for Women and Women’s Economic Ventures. Empower the women of our world.”
Artist Statement: This body of work is about the color, texture and patterns in the glass of local artist, Teal Rowe. While her pieces are lovely in form taken as a whole, I chose to photograph the “nuances”, the subtleties of the pieces, with my 55mm Micro Nikkor lens. At close range, the colors seemed to jump out at me, and even the tiny textural changes in the glass are visible. The shapes feel very fluid even after the glass has cooled. As I watched Teal work, we discussed how every piece is a new creation, because, while the colors and shapes may be similar, no two pieces are ever the same. The same was true as I photographed-each photo was also different.
