Save the Date for SET Graduation

 
Please join WEV in celebrating the accomplishments of the women and men graduating from this Spring’s Self-Employment Training (SET) courses. You’ll be inspired by the dynamic class speakers and elevator speeches during the ceremony, followed by the client expo!

Location: Montecito Country Club; 920 Summit Road, Santa Barbara, 93108. 
 
Cake and coffee will be served following the ceremony.This event is free and open to the public!

Starting Better Days Yoga was only a matter of time for our Client of the Month, Natalie Sampila. Her journey with yoga was inspired at a young age as she learned movement and meditation from her mother. Now–with the help of Thrive in Five and WEV’s Small Business Loan Fund– she has her very own studio and offers about 35 classes a week! Read more here. 
 
 

Orientations for Fall 2013: Registration Now Open! 

 
WEV is now enrolling for Fall 2013’s business training courses, Self-Employment Training (SET) and Business Plan Intensive (BPI).
 
Classes function on a first-come, first-served basis, and we anticipate filling to capacity again this season! Take the first step: sign up for a free, one-hour orientation here! 
 

New Program “SET To Launch!” is Now Accepting Applications!  

 
SET to Launch provides short-term, individualized coaching and peer support for SET and BPI graduates who have not yet launched their business, but are planning to do so within a 6 month time frame. The SET to Launch application is open to current students about to graduate and past graduates. The program includes: 
 
• A one-on-one business plan review and goal setting strategy session with your assigned Business Development Specialist (BDS) to set SMART strategic goals for your six months in the program. 
• Five monthly check-ins with your BDS as you prepare to launch your business. 
• MasterMind group participation-–and partial facilitation-– to help provide accountability. 
 
Participants will be eligible to join Thrive in Five® after successful completion of SET to Launch. Applications are now available here, and only 15 clients will be selected.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) has developed a special presentation for those 50+ in age that are considering starting their own business. 
 
The Encore Entrepreneur Seminar will inform attendees about the steps necessary to start a business with a presentation followed by a panel of representatives from the SBA, SCORE, Small Business Development Center, and Women’s Economic Ventures, explaining how their programs work and how to utilize them. The morning will wrap up with brief presentations from several Encore Entrepreneurs sharing their journey to success. We’ll see you there!
