Path to WEV

Emma began working with nonprofit organizations focused on women’s empowerment and environmental advocacy during college, and quickly learned about the critical impacts of local-led efforts to support women, families, and communities.

While pursuing graduate studies at University of California, Santa Barbara, Emma felt disconnected and was seeking local networking opportunities when she stumbled upon WEV. She began working with WEV as a research intern shortly after. During the research project, Emma spoke directly with WEV’s clients, heard how significant this organization’s work is on lives and livelihoods of the WEV community, and had to be a part of this mission.

“Being part of this community is like nothing else; I am inspired by the vision and the tenacity of the women I get to work with every day.”
