Emma is passionate about helping women entrepreneurs cultivate a positive impact in their communities, in their local economies, and in their own lives as well as those of their employees. She works to engage WEV’s community in innovative ways, improving their connection with the organization and freeing her WEV colleagues’ time to focus on delivering excellent programs. Emma joined the WEV staff in 2016 after researching WEV’s impact on the lives and livelihoods of local entrepreneurs as a Microenterprise Research Intern. Over the next three years, she supported small business owners in WEV’s Thrive program in accessing the resources – knowledge and connections – they needed to grow their businesses, before transitioning into her current role.
Emma has worked in various roles throughout the non-profit sector, focusing on women’s empowerment and environmental advocacy. She earned a master’s degree in Political Science from University of California, Santa Barbara. Emma has lived in Santa Barbara for 5 years and when not in a WEV office, she is likely to be on a beach, on a mountain, or on a soccer field. She has no children, but is happy to talk to you about her plant-babies Freddy, Jess, and Groot all day.
