Maria Shriver Launches WE Invest, a Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiative

Shriver kicks off statewide program at Oakland event with low-income women business owners and would-be entrepreneurs

OAKLAND (March 11, 2008) -- As part of her endeavor to create a powerful, unified  community of women helping women, California First Lady Maria Shriver, in partnership with The Women’s Conference, today launched WE Invest, a new statewide women’s economic empowerment initiative.  Designed to promote financial security and unleash the entrepreneurial spirit of women across California, the WE Invest program will partner with non-profit organizations from Oakland to San Diego to help women move forward together on a path toward personal and economic well-being.

Women’s Economic Ventures’ offers new membership program to benefit business owners as they start and grow their businesses.

Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties, March XX, 2008 – This month Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV) is launching a new membership program, WEV Got Business, that will benefit hundreds of entrepreneurs as they launch and grow their business ventures. The program offers member rates for advanced training, business counseling, coaching and business expo opportunities. This new program evolved from WEV’s former membership and networking organization, W!. New members will join an existing network of entrepreneurs and enjoy a more comprehensive set of business services designed to support establishment and expansion of their business ventures.
