Valerie Ellis-Santa Barbara Wednesday English Class                                                                  

Valerie Ellis is a consultant to small businesses, non-profit organizations and corporations, assisting them to achieve excellence in individual and organizational performance. Ms. Ellis is a trained facilitator, executive coach,  nationally-certified trainer in Board development and she holds a Work/Life Certificate from Boston College.  She has developed Training Manuals for self-employment, career development and community leadership. She has spoken across the country on microenterprise and leadership.  Ms. Ellis is an adjunct professor at Santa Barbara City College, teaching business classes with an entrepreneurial focus.  Ms. Ellis served on the national Board of Directors for the Association for Enterprise Opportunity and is the past Executive Director and Board President for Leadership Santa Barbara County.  She holds a Masters Degree in Organizational Development.

Sergio Zepeda-Santa Maria Tuesday Spanish Class

Sergio Zepeda has a BA in communications and marketing from ITESM, Tecnologico de Monterrey.  He is an experienced consultant, educator and expert in public relations, marketing and sales.  He has taught the Spanish version of Vision to Venture for 5 years with MCSC (Mission Community Services Corp) and WEV  (Women’s Economic Ventures) and has been an entrepreneur in both Mexico and the US.

Sergio Zepeda tiene un BA en comunicaciones y publicidad de ITESM, Tecnologia de Monterrey.  Él tiene experiencia de consultante, educador y experto en relaciones públicas, publicidad y ventas.  Él enseño la versión en español de “Vision a Venture” por 5 años con MCSC (Mission Community Services Corp)y WEV (Women´s Economic Ventures) y ha sido negociante en México y los Estados Unidos.

Paula Crutchley- Ventura Wednesday English Class

With greater than two decades of management, human resources, public relations, sales and marketing experience, Paula Crutchley has developed an expertise in identifying and resolving ineffective marketing strategies, recruitment and retention gaps and missed revenue opportunities.  As an entrepreneur she also has an intimate understanding and compassion for the challenges that new business owners face and seeks to partner with them teaching them to make a better living doing what they love.  She holds a masters degree in business from one of the top 25 universities in California.  Paula has been featured in the Ventura Star Free Press and interviewed by 101.7 K-Lite Radio Station.  Paula was born in England, and now resides in Ventura, California with her family where she is an active board member with Laubach Literacy of Ventura County, Inc. 

Dora Hartman- Oxnard Thursday Spanish Class

Ms. Hartman provides training and consulting to local and international businesses.  Her mission is to serve communities through education and the economic empowerment of disadvantaged groups.  She has over 12 years of combined experience in the areas of marketing, project management, business development and has volunteered in literacy and fundraising programs for various non-profit organizations.  Ms. Hartman has an MBA from California Lutheran University and a bachelor’s degree in Communication from UCSB.  She is a graduate from the United Way, Ventura County Leadership Academy.

La Sra. Hartman provee entrenamiento y asesoría a empresas locales e internacionales.  Su misión es servir a las comunidades por medio de la educación y poder económico para grupos con desventajas.  Ella tiene más que 12 años de experiencia en las áreas de mercadeo, manejo de proyectos, desarrollo de empresas y ha sido voluntaria en programas de literatura y recaudación de fondos para varias organizaciones sin fin lucrativo.  La Sra. Hartman tiene un MBA de California Lutheran University y un BA en comunicaciones de UCSB.  Es graduada de la Academia de Liderazgo del Condado de Ventura (VCLA) de United Way. 

Alecia Caine- Oxnard Wednesday Daytime English Class

Alecia B. Caine is a Certified Money Coach and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

She has over 20 years of experience in tax and accounting and over 8 years as a business and money coach to individuals, and small and mid-sized businesses. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from UCLA.  Currently, she serves on numerous boards for both profit and non-profit organizations. She is a graduate and teacher for Women’s Economic Ventures.

Lori Ann David- Santa Barbara Tuesday English Class

Lori Ann David has lived her personal and professional life/style as an original “Renaissance Woman”. Her rich and diverse pursuits of the past 30 years always add to her lectures and stories, laced with contagious energy and knowledge- she is an inspirational muse. Trained as a professional athlete, educated as a scientist, living as a farmer/ adventurer/explorer/healer, this teacher has valuable lessons to share. Her company, Landscape ArtDesign is a successful design/build firm of 23 years. Her private retreat center, Sacred Space, is an integrated facility within her sustainable living environment, Casa De Los Angelitos/Aurora Farms. This mother of teens is also an active advocate and coach for Women in Business, and maintains her life-long passion in aviation as a pilot and educator.

Katie Walters-Santa Maria Wednesday English Class

Katie Walters joins WEV this spring as a SET instructor after many years of teaching in California school settings.  Katie’s Master’s Degree in Education focuses on leadership through collaboration and cooperation and she has maintained a small design business for many years.  She teaches classes at Allan Hancock College, such as Fashion Merchandising and Historic Costume Design.

Ms Walters loves the ocean, travel and the outdoors, and is an avid antiques enthusiast.  She and her husband are currently restoring a 1920’s Craftsman house in downtown Santa Barbara.

Tea Silvestre- Ventura County Substitute Instructor

Tea Silvestre is the President and CEO of Social Good Marketing & Design, Inc., a full-service marketing agency that assists socially conscious businesses and nonprofits create and implement strategic marketing plans.  Tea is the winning designer of the 2007 California Strawberry Festival Poster and the founder of Ventura County Marketing Professionals.  She also teaches marketing and public relations at various venues including the Ventura College community education program.  She earned a Bachelor's degree in English and Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Certificate of Specialized Studies in Marketing from the University of California at Davis.  In 2001, she earned the title of Certified Professional Marketer, from the American Marketing Association.  She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Ventura, and a frequent WEV guest speaker.
