Bilingual Research Assistant

WEV is seeking a full-time, temporary research assistant for a 6-week assignment during the months of June and July.

The research assistant must be bilingual (English and Spanish) and previous interviewing experience is highly preferred. The assistant will be primarily responsible for conducting telephone and/or in-person interviews with up to 300 past WEV clients in order to determine the impact of our programs and services. Some evening and weekend hours will be required, and applicants must have their own transportation for travel to WEV offices and/or client businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity particularly for undergrad or graduate students with interest in the fields of microenterprise, women's issues, economics or the social sciences. Estimated Employment Dates: June 4, 2013 – July 19, 2013

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Conduct telephone interviews with past WEV clients to learn about their experiences since participating in the program
• Data enter client survey responses and update client information in WEV's database
• Translate survey questions and/or other client correspondence into Spanish if needed
• As inconsistencies and incomplete responses are identified, follow up with clients by email and/or by phone. Verify and clean the data
• Communicate with team members consistently and effectively
• Attend all team meetings throughout the course of the project
• Other tasks related to the survey project as assigned

Necessary Qualifications and Experience:
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Attention to detail and thoroughness
• Demonstrated communication skills, survey and/or interviewing skills
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, email and web-based databases
• Flexible schedule to accommodate surveying during non-business hours (evenings and weekends)
• Access to a reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel to WEV offices or client businesses, if necessary
